These socks are a birthday gift for my step-daughter. I wish I could get the true colors on this yarn, because it is really beautiful. *Although I did use the garter rib pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks - I used my standard heel and toe. I LOVE this book. If you are buying only one sock book this year - this should be the one. It is especially helpful to new sock knitters, however I think the patterns and the charts for cast on numbers to match the stitch counts benefit all sock knitters. I'm pleased with the way these turned out.
I completed one of the Mosaic Socks for the Six Sox Knitalong. Unfortunately this picture has shadows near the ribbing which looks like there is a mistake in the pattern. It is fine. This was a fun knit, except for the yarn. Normally I LOVE Koigu, but this black Koigu bleeds on my fingers. I have to be careful knitting it. I need to do the second one, but between the bleeding yarn and all my socks being such dark yarn...
I needed a break. So - I cast on for another sock.
This is the Child's First Sock from Knitting Vintage Socks. I love this book too. Nancy Bush has wonderful sock books, but I do have one question. Do all the people Nancy knows have very skinny feet - including the men? She makes so many of her socks with a 7" circumference for ladies and no more than 8" for men. This seems undersized to me. Or is it everyone I know has fat feet? Hee!
I'm using Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino yarn for these socks. Oh My Stars! I love, love, love this yarn. YUM! I am so besotted, I may just sell all of my sock yarn and knit only this yarn. Laughs hysterically. Snap out of it! Okay, y'all know I'm not going to part with my sock yarn stash any time soon. These socks will be a Christmas gift - if I can manage to pry them out of my hands.
Question for other knitters. Do you have some yarn in your stash that is your favorite...maybe because someone special gave it to you, or because it is a special color or special brand...and you can't bear to knit with it? Am I the only goofball in the bunch? Wait! Don't answer that. Is there anyone who finds themselves bypassing their special yarn because to knit it would change the status quo, and you're not sure you would be comfortable with the change? This could also be a hold over from my mother who was one of those "Save the good stuff for a special day." I try not to do that, as sometimes beautiful things never get used because we never find a day quite special enough before we pass from this life.
Well, that what I have to show for Socktoberfest. Not as much as I thought I would, but then it's socks all the time at chez Bliss. Thanks Lolly for a terrific knitalong! It has been so much fun trying to see all the socks being knitted for Socktoberfest. The group is HUGE and very inspiring.
The Feather & Fan socks from Socks, Socks, Socks I was knitting in the Opal black and red yarn are no more. Although I like this pattern, it was making too small a sock. I do not like this yarn with this pattern, and I am way on overload when it comes to black socks at the moment. I'm not going to waste time on socks I don't like. So I ripped...ripped...ripped. Maybe I will pick up the next sock being knitted by the Socks3kal.

Thanks again to everyone for your prayers, thoughts, comments, emails and cards concerning my DH and our situation here. He is doing well. It has been very busy around here between the IV meds schedule, meal prep & cleanup (something I don't normally do much of any more.) Thankfully my stepdaughter is coming up to help today, so I can recuperate (and knit) a bit. Going up and down the stairs to the kitchen to fix meals, etc. with the added medical tasks has my body very sore and rebellious from the muscle spasms. Having her help today will help a lot.
I hope you get all the help you need today!

Charlene Schurch (author of Sensational Knitted Socks) was at our shop for a workshop yesterday. What a nice lady! And her book is fabulous too!

Oh my goodness Bliss - I've never measured until now. My foot circumference is 10"!!! I knew the Nancy Bush cable and rib sock was a bit tight but I thought maybe my stitch gauge was off!! Sheesh! Hm. Now how to modify it to fit my foot.

P.S. Maybe I should measure my foot again when I'm not pregnant any more? Hmm...... One can hope but I really doubt anything will change.

Yep I too am strange and have trouble using the "Nice Yarn" either because it cost more than I could really afford or was gifted to me. I am terrified I will stuff up when knitting with it and that will take away the enjoyment of the nice yarn. Besides..... if you knit it , it is no longer in the stash to just look at and drool over. :P

I am in love with those socks! Would you share where you got the yarn? I haven't seen it in any of my usual haunts.
