Flyby Post
Just a quick note to let you know DH is home. He is doing quite well navigating with a walker. They took his first cast off and put another one on last Thursday. This one will be on until January 10th. He is handling the temporary prosthesis very well.
For those of you who have followed my story of struggling in a wheelchair in a multi-level house that is not handicap accessible...he's beginning to "get" it. His wheelchair won't fit through the door, so when he has been out to the doctor - he has to switch to my chair to get through the door. He also thinks getting a handicap van would be a great idea now (only something I have needed since 2001.) He's getting a taste of what it is like to be totally dependent on others for certain things. One example is food. (No one is starving here, believe me.) However you get fed when someone feels like cooking, not necessarily when you are hungry. I wish he could have had this empathy without having to go through the trauma of amputation.
Unfortunately there has been no knitting here - none. Hopefully I will be back to "normal" soon. I am very grateful he is doing as well as he is, and appreciate all of your comments, emails and prayers.

Glad to hear he's home. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I'm truly glad he's home. Ad I'm very sorry it had to get to this point before he was able to understand what you're going through.

God DOES answer prayers, and it is in HIS time, not ours. So happy that all is doing well. *HUGS*

I'm glad he's home, and that he is beginning to see the difficulties that you've endured for years. I hope the new year brings only good things and peace for you and yours.

I've only just stumbled across your blog while surfing knitting sites and I know little about you. I can tell you've faced a lot of adversity, and with grace, which is really the hard part. I read through your backlog, and I have a suggestion, though I feel somewhat rude for mentioning it. Have you applied to be on Extreme Makeover Home Edition? who knows, maybe they'd choose you, and you'd get your accessible home.
In terms of your child, money is not the be all and end all of happiness in a life. You are still giving her everything she needs. Needs are not so material as some assume.

Oh my heart goes out to you and your hubby as I was catching up reading on your blog.
What a trial to go through!
My husband had more surgeries ove rthe past 7 years than I can count also on his femur, hip and knee that was shattered in 2001.
The walker was the hardest to get used to when he had to use it but the safest he said after he progressed to crutches and the canes.
My husband also has diabetes pretty bad and so his leg never heals right.
I am sending you lots and lots of good karma and prayers and thoughts as you are battling your own health and now have so much more to care for.
Give your fur babies a good scratch behind the ears for me too! :)

Hi Bliss:
I've been out of the blog world for a while and thought I'd check in.
I'm so sorry to hear about your hubby's amputation. I've read for years about your struggles and am sorry that it had to come to this. Hopefully now that you're at a better rehab centre, things will start to come together.
I can't believe Remy is now two. I remember when Remy first arrived and remember grieving over Bunny's loss.
My thoughts are always with you even if I'm not checking in as often.
Cheryl.
