There Has Been Knitting...

Through the recent blog silence, when I am not putting eleventy-hundred projects in my Ravelry queue - I have been knitting.  (Yes, a person who knits at the speed of paint drying really needs 4 pages of future knitting projects queued up - heh.  Even though I most likely have enough yarn for all that, unless I am going to live to be 300...well you do the math.)

Here is a sneak peek at part of what I have been working on...

Winston:  I can't believe she is making me model a hat.  She bribed me with a tiny piece of Little Debby white cake.  What can I say - I'm a freak for Little Debby.

Help! I'm Addicted to Ravelry and I Can't Quit

First of all let me apologize to those of you who are still on the waiting list to get into Ravelry I understand how left out you feel.  Your little noses pressed to the glass trying to see all the fun that is being had by everyone but you.  I used to feel like that too when I would read a post like this.  I'm sorry.  You'll get in soon.

But be warned, when you do get in this could very well happen to you:

  • You no longer knit, because who has time?
  • You are so busy updating your projects, friends, groups, etc. that anything else feels like an intrusion.
  • You promise to stop after one more project upload.
  • You have found one more major time-sucking place - just like Bloglines - and it is fabulous!
  • You immediately know where you stack up as a sucky or superb knitter.
  • You over compensate for the first by adding 1,349 projects to your queue.  (Like I could knit all those in 10 lifetimes.)
  • You upload pictures of all your stash that make people weep with envy.  (Well it would if I had the nerve to do it - which I don't - yet.  But I did put a link to my Flash Your Stash album.)  Do not be fooled.  This is not all of it by any means.  Like I could knit all that in 10 lifetimes.  Is there an echo in here?)

The Kauni Shawl is needing only its edging.  I could have totally done that today except...well...see above.  The Monkey Socks chatter at me from their little yarn bag, and  I want to knit on them except...well...see above.

So you see?  If you are still left out of the Ravelry gang, it is not without some good merits.  You are still knitting!  You can still read your favorite knitting blogs before they have 29 unread posts each.

I will surely get back to knitting, reading blogs, and updating soon.  Remember I am a relatively slow knitter...so it won't take that long to load all my projects for the last 30+ years the time I have been blogging about and photographing them.

Help! Did I Break Them?

Since a couple of hours after receiving my Ralvery invite yesterday, I could not access the site.  I could also not access Bloglines or Knitpicks.  As soon as I added a post about this - all was fixed.

Whew!  Apparently I didn't break them after all - hee.

I'm In! I'm In!

The last time I had checked Ravelry for my place in the queue, I was somewhere in the 3000+.  I would check every time I read a blog where someone had just gotten his or her invite, and I would get my pout on because I would have jumped up about all of 10 places.

Imagine my surprise when I checked my email a little while ago and I had an INVITE!  Of course I have no clue what I am doing.  Most of my stash is in my yarn room, which I can no longer access (thanks to a wheelchair that doesn't do stairs.)  So I imagine it will take awhile before I manage to get all of my stash photographed for Ravelry.  Falls over laughing at the thought of...

  1. admitting the full scope of my stash
  2. photographing all of it
  3. I might be finished in the next decade

If you want to look for me on Ravelry88x31 you can find me under Blissfulknitter.

Last week I took my first few steps in about 3 years.  Today I get my Ravelry invite.  What's next?  World peace?

In other news, there has not been much knitting.  I have had a lot of little things to take care of that manage to stretch out over the parts of the day I'm not on the phone, reading posts in Bloglines, being cared for by my daily caregivers, laying prostrate on the bed between two fans because the Midwest is still on "bake in hot oven until done."  We have central air conditioning, but the wall of windows in my bedroom defeat it easily with the amount of sunshine that comes in.  Our bedroom is about 25 degrees hotter than any other room in the house.

Somewhere during all that fanning and sighing, I lost my danged mind and signed up for this: Sos2  I know!  I have not completed the easy shawl I am knitting, but have managed in the past couple of weeks to purchase the pattern and yarn for the Bee Fields Shawl (can we say WAY over our skills?) and now I have signed up for the Secret of the Stole, like I am going to be able to keep up with the clues and the knitting and beads and the chart.   Feel free to start laughing.  Okay enough with the hysterical wheezing, spitting and knee slapping... I can hear you.

Speaking of which, I don't think I have suitable yarn or stash, unless I filch the beaUtiful yarn that Kim dyed for me (you can get some too) called Tupelo Honey.  I see it might be a tad short in yardage.  Darn.  That could mean I need to buy yarn and beads.
